  1. Seth says:

Soooo…apparently wearing a crazy shirt while vacationing with your daughter is illegal in Thailand.

    Other countries are strange.

  2. zhoen says:

    Pretty unequivocal. Good.

  3. Owen Goldman says:

    Why didn’t they use Pedobear??

  4. somebody says:

    not thai lang

    Sent from my PC

  5. Someone says:

So, being a pedo is OK as long as you haven’t been on the airport?

    • mabhatter says:

Because in some poorer Asian countries poor families will “turn out” their daughters to guys that run sex vacations for tourists.

  6. huxley says:

Throwing luggage at pedophiles = Jail time

  7. Hyhybt says:

I was confused at first, thinking the black thing in the second panel was a piano.

  8. keithybabes says:

Smuggling children into Thailand in your luggage is illegal.

  9. Loren Pechtel says:

What’s the problem here? The pictures seem clear enough to me. Tourist + sex with a local kid = jail. Note that the tourist is white, the girl is not–it’s not likely a family member. Furthermore, you’re not likely to share a bed with a daughter of that age. I see no reasonable other meaning for the pictures.

    • Daniel Barkalow says:

I think the “Tourist+” part is oddly specific. They’ve got a whole panel devoted to something that’s pretty much irrelevant, assuming that they don’t accept the “business trip” defense.

    • Eva says:

I assume it’s because people think they can get away with it because they’re on vacation? So they specifically want to attract tourists’ attention with the sign. They had to pass a law in the States stating that if you’re an American travelling to Thailand and commit a sex crime you will be tried in the States. (And probably Canada too. Sorry, it’s been a while since I watched the news story, so my details are vague…)

    • Cletis says:

I think it’s simply because southeast asia (esp thailand and burma) historically have had a large sex tourism trade. Period.

    • true says:

same in Aus. but not just thailand. anywhere.

    • st0815 says:

I think it’s because historically Thailand’s authorities were turning a blind eye to child prostitution – as long as the money came in, it didn’t matter. In theory prostitution is generally illegal in Thailand, in practice it’s commonplace.

(Yes I know the sign if from Cambodia.)

    • o0O0o says:

I’m pretty sure it means that you can’t hide kids in your luggage

    • Hmmm says:

i think they should get their priorities straight…so in Cambodia it’s ok to kill, take/sell drugs/weapons and so on, but if she’s under 18 all hell breaks loose :))

    • Mel the Belle says:

Drugs and murder usually go along with the child sex industry.

    • jinxed says:

It took me a second glance to notice the guy’s shirt is slightly unbuttoned in the second and third frame.

  10. says:

Swinging your suitcase around and posing for a photo in a hotel room will lead to you having to carry a grate around.

Thailand is indeed a strange place. (So strange the sign isn’t even written in their native language!)

  11. biodiesel sodium hydroxide says:

I don’t think that girl is underage. Adult thai women are normally 2/3 the height of the average American tourist. This one is clearly standing at 3/4 his height, well above average adult female height.

  12. cynthia says:

FYI- The language above is not Thai. Its Cambodia.

  13. Majdi Bell says:

    Is that Alan Harper?

  14. Polystyrene says:

It’s from WORLD VISION as noted by the clearly marked in English name in the lower right-hand corner, it is not posted by ordinance of a government (least not technically). It is a simple warning for white American/Europeans who intend to go to these countries and commit pedophilia.

World Vision has some strange agendas for my liberal ideology but I support this specific program and sign. The third world is not our play toy.

  15. Akhe says:

    Dedicated to Mikhail Pletnev?

  16. Boppy2010 says:

It’s a shame they paid all that money for a sign that the target market can’t actually read.

I’d have thought it meant that faceless men wearing mandals who kidnap young girls will be sent to the zoo.

    • Minoritybabble says:

They will, but the problem isn’t big enough to warrant signs.

    • Hmmm says:

Actually the biggest problem in SE Asia is their alphabet, because if they’d have normal, latin letters, Americans and Western Europeans could read in their ID how old the child is :))

  17. > says:

Oh yeah, nothing’s as great for laughs as the child-sex-traffic/child-sex-tourism industry. I’m in stitches.

  18. Emily says:

Actually, @biodiesel, there has been a thriving (and horrific) child sex tourism industry in Thailand for several decades. Rich white men pay a travel agency/slave trafficker for cruises or for specific resort packages that include a line-up of all the pre-pubescent Thai children one could molest in a weekend. These “vacations” are not promoted or sponsored by the government, and clearly this sign indicates that a crackdown is taking place. And about damn time.
This is just a microcosm of the $12 billion global pandemic of sex slavery. The next time someone dubs to prostitution as a “victimless crime,” refer them here: http://www.somaly.org/

    • st0815 says:

Prostitution of adults is different from child prostitution. I think you know which type the “victimless crime” comment refers to.

    • Hmmm says:

First of all…thay people are not racist…you don’t really need to be white :))…and it’s not that expensive either…i mean not more than you’d usually pay for prostitutes :)). Anyway, so from what i understand, your problem is that the government isn’t involved and they’re not paying taxes?? OOOOHHHH noooooooo

  19. PsychoDad says:

Uh-oh. HOW long has it been illegal????

    • Rachel of Cyberia says:

Seriously. I know two guys who bought their wives from Thai brothels, but they had to wait till they were 18 to marry and bring them here.

    • baccalla says:

then, rachel, you can only pray that the 2 guys you know that married the 18 y.o. girls not have any children, and if they do, that you will be diligent enough to let children services know any time that you have a ‘feeling’ they are being abused. seriously!

    • Min says:

You don’t know how old the guys or the girls were when they met. Rachel would have said it in other terms if the guys were sleeping with children, so it’s not the case.
You’re a douche and should mind your own business.

    • wren says:

You know TWO guys like this? Where do you meet your friends??

    • Hmmm says:

So I hope rachel answered your question. Paedophilia has been prohibited in SE Asia for “Seriously” years

  20. shin0bi272 says:

Awww but my sex tourism card is almost full!

  21. mtgcostello says:

yeah, it’s Cambodian. You can see Phenom Penh in the seal on the bottom-right.

  22. ben says:

this is not Thailand , campainge of World vision.

  23. Dysaan says:

That’s not Thailand, it’s Camobdia, Ankor Wat is in the bottom right corner. And the writing is Khmer not Thai.
Their are signs like this EVERYWHERE in Cambodia, it’s so sad.

  24. Dysaan says:

and wow, I just used the wrong “there”. Engrish Funny.

  25. Franky says:

    That’s Cambodian… not Thai.

  26. Jamie says:

I just got a kick out of reading all you guys comment. hehehee… cant hide a kid in your suitcase.. lol

  27. -jha- says:

Is this the late Garry Glitter?

  28. malkatz says:

Note how this entire scenerio seems to be happening in the same room.

  29. GAWD says:

How do i report to the cheezeburger website about how much fail the title (as well as the submitter) is, or maybe I should post a demotivational about this one

  30. pearjam says:

I used to be an white Cambodian in Thailand, …so I’m really getting a kick out of these replies…

The text is clearly a warning against trafficking – you can tell by the squiggles.

    Period. 🙂

  31. HaveASeat says:

Then whats the point of going to Thailand!?

  32. SD says:

FAIL! it not Thailand it is Cambodia! Lol! oddly specific Failblog Fail!

  33. Phi says:

I read Chinese. It says that over 400 sex offenders were jailed in 2005.

  34. ChocLuv says:

I saw that the OP must have thought the khmer text was thai.
Really? I saw someone on YouTube who thought that the Thai language in a vid was just random gibberish. It really upset me. sorry if i come on as rather irritable, but thai is language too.

  35. sarcasticGUY says:

Thanks to all 17 of you who have informed me this is from Cambodia and not Thailand. Anyone want to volunteer to be #18 ?

  36. GuoBia says:

    …It’s from LAOS.

  37. Kiyomi says:

The khmer writing says “Over 500 people were caught and jailed in 2005. Please call to inform the police, so we can protect our children.”

  38. Hmmm says:

I think it’s a lot funnier if you read it backwards: “after getting out of jail for trafficking in some country i don’t know the capital of, get laid with a midget and f**k off”

  39. Hmmm says:

or…even better, if you consider mathematics, you could read it as: “While in jail, you fantasize about having sex with children and travelling”

  40. Hmmm says:

this photo is great…you can make up literally hundreds of stories…like: “It is illegal to try to impersonate Michael Jackson is South-East Asia”

  41. nick says:

At first I thought he was with a midget

  42. Ray says:

    IT not Thailand, its Cambodia.

But the punish mostly the same.

  43. bill says:

It is illegal to take an asian woman home in your suitcase? When did this happen?

  44. ...rly? says:

The exact location is really irrelevant. The important message should be not to go to foreign countries to boink children/midgets!

  45. Maryann says:

Urg. Not seeing the funny here. We all know what this sign means and it’s not a laughable subject. I understand that the jokes are all about making it into things it isn’t… but seriously. There are some things that are politically incorrect with good reason.

  46. kk says:

Sorry:D for those who’re curious about the language. i’m thai and this language is not thai. Maybe, it’s cambodian. I’m not sure.

    ขอบคุณค่ะ thanks

  47. Sergeant Hatred and little brown boy/girl make a cameo appearance.
