  1. Brendon says:

This is not the trail you’re looking for…

  2. AJ says:

I think it is a stream.

  3. Tank668 says:

Probably a pipeline or buried electrical cable. Funny thing is I have walked by that sign, and never paid attention. It is just north of Penn State Univ.

  4. Adam Otok says:

Perhaps the budget did not run to the full text required but that was all they could afford.

  5. Aron says:

    It’s a lesser-known work of Magritte.

  6. WorrierPrincess says:

    Ceci n’est pas un chemin.

  7. Anna H says:

Only in Pennsylvania…and yes, we really ARE this crazy here.

  8. akura says:

Only in Pennsylvania…and yes, we really ARE this crazy here.

  9. Astra says:

    Oh crap, I think I see Slenderman…

  10. ZJ says:

If it’s not a trail, then WHAT THE HELL IS IT???

  11. Seibee says:

It’s just disguised as a trail. Quite well, I might add.

  12. says:

Sure looks like one… which is why they had to put up a sign explaining that it’s not.

    • Loren Pechtel says:

Exactly. It looks like a trail. Presumably it leads nowhere so they put up the sign to keep people from hiking it.

    • huxley says:

There’s a top secret government facility for alien technology research in the woods there. This is how they keep people from walking upto the front door.

  13. 5150 says:

A trail by any other name would….still be a trail.

  14. This is not a peroson says:

This is not a comment 😄

  15. Sarge says:

It’s a drainage ditch, actually. A very shallow drainage ditch.
Why they had to put up a sign saying it’s not a trail is beyond me.

  16. Anon says:

They had to put up a sign after all the rape.

  17. BCJ says:

Denial isn’t just a river in Egypt.

  18. Chakan says:

Ceci n’est pas une pipe … Absolutely ingenious of them

  19. Snave Nareik says:

Sure looks like one… YEAH, THAT’S WHY THEY PUT THE FUCKING SIGN UP!

  20. Arruniel says:

It looks like a washout, a path of debris left by a sudden, raging flood. It’s the type of “path” I would avoid. Or it could be a drainage ditch or a dry creek bed…

  21. Gabino Garcia says:

Ceci n’est pas une trail. What is it only a picture of a trail?

  22. Polystyrene says:

A trail takes you places in a safe and orderly manor. A clearing (which is technically what that is) is just an opening in brush that has no direct exit or expectation to take you someplace. The sign seems funny but if you’re a hiker and you take that trail ending up lost is not something anybody really wants to do.

  23. The Supreme Blah says:

Somehow this reminds me of “This is not a song, it’s a sandwich” . . . yes, there is a song by that title.

  24. Kaizer says:

well it isnt! It is a sign.

  25. Aeterna says:

This is near Penn State, which alone should take the edge off your confusion. same town where there are such motivating signs as ‘BEER… found here”. god i love my town. (WE ARE!)

  26. Smokey says:

    It’s NOT a trail, it’s a pathway.

  27. Quinn says:

I only know this because I come from a long line of prominent deer hunters… That be a deer trail! It’s so obvious!

Oh god, I just died a little inside because I knew exactly what it was. Actually a lot.

  28. Your face says:

Its a creek bed. Obviously they don’t want people walking on it due to the recent clown rapings in that area.
