Anyone else think they shot themselves in the foot with this one? Think of all the money people are just throwing away!

As a member of the Oregon Coast Aquarium, I see this often. Yet, somehow, people still toss coins in the stream!

  2. Supertron26 says:

This one’s been on here before…

  3. Snark Attack says:

They aren’t cheating themselves out of money; they are trying to be clever about asking people not to give the fish inside metal poisoning with their coins!

  4. Rauss says:

    Passive aggressive sarcasm sign!

  5. pmcatnip says:

It’s because they have some really cool sea animals and coins are bad for them.

  6. And exactly where are there streams that ARE coin operated?

  7. Dude says:

It’s a clever joke, seeing as its an aquarium. The copper in coins is toxic to fish.

  8. Starcat says:

Why do I suddenly have the urge to construct a coin-operated stream and charge a quarter for 5 minutes of soothingly-babbling synthetic brook?

    Lindsey,
They can be found in the Red Light District, in the “Special Needs” brothels.

Well actually, when it’s a stream in a zoo or botanical garden or something, people tend to throw copper coins in it because for some reason they think ‘hey it’s water wich pollutes the water and stains the rocks in the stream. Cleaning the water and rocks costs a lot more than gathering the coins will pay.

I forgot to finish a sentence there. What I meant to say was:
Well actually, when it’s a stream in a zoo or botanical garden or something, people tend to throw copper coins in it because for some reason they think “hey it’s water so it has to be the Trevi fountain”, wich pollutes the water and stains the rocks in the stream. Cleaning the water and rocks costs a lot more than gathering the coins will pay.

I’ve been there a lot. One time I went and the stream was dry, and I saw a kid throw a penny into the almost gone pond when I came out, the stream was running again, it was a truck making it go, but still I thought it was funny

  13. Eric says:

    @ Sarah
No this is definitely at the Oregon Coast Aquarium been there every summer for the last 8 years. The aquarium is on a reserve so all the plants are protected thats why it looks like a botanical garden
